Laboratory
of Investigation into
Contemporary Art Practice
Coordinadora: Alicia Herrero
The Laboratory
of Investigation into Contemporary Art Practice
is a dynamic, conversation-based work structure. LIPAC
is comprised of 3 autonomous yet inter-related
platforms, intended as zones for the circulation
of knowledge, inspiration and reflection; spaces for
engagement with the distinct forms of art, thought and
their overspills.
To this end LiPac will organise calls
for submissions to the various projects and activities
throughout
the year.
‘Projects’, platform or scenario
1, aims to constitute a space for the presentation
and development of investigative artistic, curatorial
and/or critical projects. Projects aspiring to experimental
and textual development can be presented to this platform,
where they will be discussed by established artists,
artist-curators, artist-lecturers, critics and curators.
This platform will take place once a year with participation
by international open call.

Platform 2, ‘Interlinks’,
is proposed as a zone of permanent traffic of invited
participants across the academic year, with cycles of
conferences, seminars, international visits, video programmes,
informal and roaming gatherings, talks and the presentation
of projects and publications.

Finally platform 3, ‘Angle of Impact’,
will offer the possibility for reflection and discussion
on the construction of new scenarios in the city and
new roles in the artistic field. In its turn it will
also function as a zone of self-reflection, an instrument
of evaluation of LiPac itself.

LiPac is proposed as a sphere of relation between
local and translocal artists and theoreticians, a production
of local origin contributing to a wider debate. In addition
to the external contributors the project will also encourage
the active participation of artists, curators, art lecturers
and students in LiPac activities. The aim is to construct
a generic sphere-scene mechanism between the various
contributions, creating relationships between ideas
and projects and acting as a channel of circulation
for cultural goods, all within the framework of the
educational and professional activity of a public and
autonomous university (UBA, the University of Buenos
Aires), operating in a local and translocal social context.
